Was very easy to follow pattern
I love it. The pattern is easy to understand and goes quickly. Not to mention how cute it is.
I actually haven't started yet. I decided on something even simpler/quicker. I am now knitting a simple scarf using yarn and needles I already own. Will do the ccarat hat next year!
This is a very easy pattern and makes a great, fun hat in lots of sizes!
Should I buy (5) or (6) yarn for the Cat hat pattern? The yarn you mentioned - Thick and Quick-when I looked it up said (6) but later you wrote that any (5) would do??

Thank you for your review and for bringing this up! I’ve double-checked the Cat Hat pattern, and I can’t see anywhere it specifies using super bulky (6) yarn—it only mentions using bulky (5) yarn.
You’re absolutely right that Lion Brand Heartland Thick & Quick is typically categorized as super bulky (6), but for this pattern it works with 8mm/US 11 needles really well, typically a bulky (05) or super bulky (06) yarn that can be used with this size needle will work for this pattern.
So, any bulky (5) yarn should work just fine. If you’re looking for yarn substitutes, I recommend checking out YarnSub (yarnsub.com), which is a fantastic resource for finding comparable yarns. https://yarnsub.com/yarns/lion_brand/heartland_thick_and_quick
